Why we marked it

  • Only nine rooms and suites
  • Infinity pool overlooking the valley
  • Small spa with sauna and steam room
  • Suites with Jacuzzi tubs and balconies

Kings Pavilion is a small luxury hotel on about three acres of gardens in Aniwatte, a quiet residential area roughly ten minutes from central Kandy. With just nine rooms across three pavilions, it feels more like a private villa than a hotel.

What it’s like

Every room has a private balcony or terrace with mountain and valley views, and the suites are large, with Jacuzzi tubs and separate showers. There is a small infinity pool overlooking the valley, a spa with sauna and steam room, and a restaurant serving Sri Lankan and international dishes. Decor nods to Kandy’s heritage, with batiks and images of Kandyan dancers.

Good to know

  • One of the highest-rated places to stay in the Kandy area, so book well ahead.
  • Best for couples and anyone wanting a quiet, personal stay.
  • It is a tuk-tuk ride into town; the hotel can arrange transport.
