Kandyan Cultural Dance Show

An hour of traditional Kandyan dance, drumming and fire walking, held every evening in central Kandy.

  • Experience
  • Town centre, Kandy
  • Mid-range

Why we marked it

  • Traditional Kandyan dancers and drummers
  • Fire-walking finale
  • About an hour, every evening
  • Near Kandy Lake

Kandy is the home of Kandyan dance, Sri Lanka’s best-known classical dance form. Evening shows at venues near the lake, such as the Kandy Lake Club and the Red Cross Hall, give a lively introduction.

What to expect

Expect elaborate costumes, thundering drums, acrobatic dancers and a fire-walking finale. Shows usually start in the late afternoon and last about an hour.

Good to know

  • Arrive early for a good seat.
  • You can head to the Temple of the Tooth’s evening ceremony afterwards.
  • Check the start time locally, as it can change.
